The end-result of video production can be just about anything; music videos, commercials, or advertisements, and so on. The difference between the category of Video Production (VP) and Freelance Video Production (FVP) is that VP requires much more planning, pre-production, and attention to the shooting process. I enter into work-scope contract with a client, a retainer fee is paid (different from project to project), and pre-production meetings begin.
The process generally begins with pre-production meetings to get an idea of the desired final product and what it will take to get there. After that, script writing and revision(s) take place, along with the gathering, construction, shooting, and rendering of any and all hard assets to be used in the production process. This includes visual development, narration and voice actors, sets, location logistics, crew assembly, and so on. Once these things are gathered, the editing and post-production process begins; everything begins to come together into a final product. In the end, the goal is to give a client the product they want to see. That means the client should be involved in the process as much as possible. Why pay for a commercial or production only to get something you don’t want?
